Embarking on a new business? Need some help in getting started and raising awareness of your product or service?

My background is in marketing and public relations (PR) in Hampshire, and I have worked with clients in both the private and public sector. This experience has given me a breadth of knowledge which I use to provide tools and pointers to get you going on your business journey.

Over the past 15 years I have worked with a wide variety of companies, in Hampshire and West Sussex, telling their stories and promoting their products and services nationwide with effective publicity.

If you would like more people to contact your company, then email or call me. Together we can create a marketing and PR strategy to improve the visibility of your company and for you to achieve greater interaction with your customers.

Business sectors that I have helped with PR:
IT companies | retail | exhibitions | folk festivals | mobility companies | travel companies | local councils | gyms | health centres | independent trading law specialists | private car hire | book promotions and many more

Are you looking for more exposure in the media and online? I am here to help you do just that! You may be about to embark on a new business venture, or already be an established company in Hampshire looking for a new injection of life. Whichever camp you fall into, you should ask yourself the following questions:

What makes your company unique?

Why are you different from your competitors? What’s your unique selling point?

Who is your customer?

Age, gender, a detailed description of who buys your product or service.

How do they like to be reached?

Are they on-line, or do they prefer face-to-face contact, or by word of mouth recommendation?

Not everyone has access to the internet – how will you reach them?

Perhaps door-to-door, clubs, societies, community groups?

Have you researched the competition?

Who are your rival businesses or organisations?

Is there a need for your product or service?

Can you fill the gap in the current market?

Once you have answered these questions, allow me to tell your story and bring it to life. What do you want to shout about? Your staff? Your excellent customer service? A great new product that will change lives? A fantastic service that you offer? The fact that you have been in business for many years? Celebrate your achievements. Send out the story of your company. Grow your brand awareness and in return you will increase the number of enquiries that you receive.

And remember…human interest and trust – two elements that combine to create great publicity.

Lorna Jackson – Advance & Get Noticed – Marketing & Public Relations (PR) in Hampshire

Imagine having a double page editorial about your company in a local magazine. It is high profile coverage. It tells people about your company and the products and services that you offer. It builds credibility and increases brand awareness.

Local papers and magazines are constantly on the lookout for ‘feel-good’ stories about businesses, organisations and charities in their area. They require good content within their publication to engage with their readers. Unlike advertorials, newspapers and magazines do not always charge for editorial, however you have to have a newsworthy story – which is where I come in. I can advise and help you and write the editorial to capture your story.

The press releases that I write are sent to my editorial contacts locally and nationally. If your story is picked up, then you may be interviewed and photographed, which could lead to wide coverage in papers and magazines.

Press releases can also be used on your website and social media as ‘Latest News’ items.

I also work with local radio stations to set up interviews. If this is an area that interests you, pleases contact me.

PR is an element of the marketing mix often overlooked. If it is used correctly and as a drip feed to raise your profile and build reputation it can have a powerful outcome. If you want to know more about PR and how it can help your business contact me.

We have been working with Lorna for just over a year now and have always had first class attention to detail from all the work carried out for our company. Lorna has managed to get us lots of results within local newspapers to bring Solent Mobility Centre into every reader’s front room, which has been great for business.
I would highly recommend Lorna to carry out any PR for any size business looking to bring their company into the limelight and get great publicity.

Director, Solent Mobility Centre

Social media is part of everyday life now. The numerous channels provide additional avenues in which to promote your company, products and services. Social networking provides a great opportunity to get your company name into the public domain.

If your company is growing, shout about it; if you are employing more staff or hiring an apprentice, let the world know. 10th business anniversaries should be celebrated, new products announced, events, exhibitions and festivals promoted online.

With social media it is so easy to let the world know what is going on – so why aren’t you doing it?

If you would like help and advice about Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn then give me a call. This works particularly well with product launches and events.

Have you ever thought about entering your company for a business award? You may ask yourself – why do this?

Business awards are usually run by the local newspapers and offer excellent publicity and abundant networking opportunities. Even if you don’t win, the exposure will cement your company in the public’s mind as a reputable and trustworthy business. An award evening is also a great opportunity to reward and recognise staff for their contribution to the success of your company.

There are also industry awards for specific industry specialists. These awards show your expertise within your industry is another way of raising your profile and building your reputation.

One of my main areas of work is the writing of business award submissions for companies. With so many business awards throughout the year, I recommend which business awards would be the most appropriate to enter and write the application on behalf of your company.

To find information about upcoming business awards, please email or call me.

Thank you so much for your help over the last year. You are extremely professional and your knowledge has been invaluable. Deadlines have always been met and communication was excellent. We look forward to working with you in the future and will certainly recommend your services to others.

Video can work as part of your marketing strategy, you only need to search on-line to see that websites achieve higher rankings if they contain embedded video or links to YouTube or Vimeo. I work with Clive Jackson Video Productions from story board to final production of video’s for promotional use for Products/Services/Training and Corporate Video’s

The creative nature of working with video can bring your product or service to life and using a voiceover can talk people through your business, using film to show the process/products/service procedures. This is more engaging for customers seeking your services rather than only reading text or static visuals.

Please contact me to discuss your video requirements and we can help you with planning and story boarding.

Voice over facilities are also available. Please contact me to book studio time on request.

If your company would like more publicity, then please contact me and I will be happy to meet and advise you on your best options for marketing and PR.

The Hampshire companies I have worked with over the years have benefitted from my PR expertise. If you would like to see copies of published articles, editorials and interviews, please contact me and I will be happy to share these with you. Alternatively, if you would like to speak to any of my clients, please email me and I will put you in touch with them.
